The model 3 is a great car, probably the Y too since they’re mostly the same. I got a used one recently but damn I hate that guy. I wanted a Kia EV6 or a Hyundai Ioniq 5 but there wasn’t enough head room despite the cars appearing to be larger. The model X is dumb imo, if I were to get an SUV I would want a roof rack, which is not possible because of the stupid fancy doors in the back. We don’t talk about the cybertruck.
I have a Model 3 too and I used to really love that car. But the association with Musk has taken all the joy out of it for me. I’m seriously thinking about selling it, even though there is no compelling alternative.
A bit of a self-plug, sorry, but if someone were to sell 3D printed license plate holders that said “fire Elon” “go away Elon”, or other things like that, would you have any interest? Been thinking of making one for myself and I recently opened up an Etsy shop.
I don’t enjoy my Model Y any less after his bullshit picked up. I don’t buy cars based on what I think of the company’s CEO. However, a lot of things Tesla have done in the past couple of years demonstrate that they don’t seem to care about their consumers, and I do not plan on buying another one.
I really haven’t had to interact much as a customer outside the buying process, like with any other car, so it’s not a big deal. I Did have some warranty work done and they were very forthcoming with a loaner car. Out of many cars over many years, this is the first that even offered me a loaner, so that’s a plus for customer service
Oh, my experience with the service and sales staff has been nothing but excellent. Every Tesla employee I’ve been face-to-face with has been a joy to work with. It’s the decisions made by upper management that I have issues with. They have a habit of cutting small but useful features from their vehicles to save a few bucks per unit, at a detriment to the consumer. Passenger side lumbar support, rain sensors on the windshield, and ultrasonic sensors, for example.
My car has ultrasonics, but that’s the one that really grinds my gears. They decided to haphazardly remove them from new vehicles with no alternative, promising that new software would take care of parking sensors and it would be way better. It took them 9 months to get a completely inferior software alternative to consumers. For nearly a year, your car could autonomously drive itself down the road but not tell you if you’re about to hit something while parking. WTF?
Imagine test driving a vehicle with parking sensors, paying your deposit, then receiving that car later and it’s missing shit. The company doesn’t care, you can either take the car or leave it and forfeit your deposit. That’s the kind of anti-consumer bullshit that’s stopping me from buying another one.
Tl;dr: There are plenty of valid criticisms about Tesla, there’s no need to bring Elon into it or make stuff up imo
I can confirm Model Y has tons of head room and leg room, at least for this 6’3” guy. And you can get a roof rack (looks silly though). So far I’ve been very happy with it.
I had wanted to wait for the “Juniper” release, but needed a car earlier than expected
Have you driven a 2024 model 3? They removed the stalks on the sides of the steering wheel, I’m assuming they’re going to do the same for the Juniper. The turn signals are buttons on the front of the wheel and I hate it. Apparently you can get aftermarket stalks installed.
I love roof racks. The first things I got for my 3 were a roof rack and window tints.
I’m 6’4" and have plenty of head room in the 3 unless I’m sitting in the back for some reason.
Yeah the turn signal switches do not appear to be a good change, nor the swipe to switch it it into gear, but I expect it to be a minor annoyance rather than a deal breaker.
The new Model 3 looks better, rides smoother, is more efficient, and is quieter: that seems like a big deal. I also like that the back seat has hvac controls and weren’t the front seats ventilated?
I haven’t sat in a model 3 since they first came out- I didn’t want to because I didn’t want emotion to overcome my choice of spending money. At the time, both that and the model S had an awkward door and pillar, making access a little frustrating to those of us who are both tall and have bad knees. Model Y was the clear choice for my knees
Yeah, I really like all the other changes. It does have ventilated seats, as does the non-Juniper 2024 model Y.
Knees are important. I was really tempted to go with the Y over the 3. Sometimes when I’m camping I wish I had gone with the Y for the extra space, but I’m thoroughly enjoying the 3.

I feel it. He was bad when I bought it and he keeps getting worse.

I’ve never thought of a car company CEO before either but in this case, the constant stream of mental diarrhea he spews makes it difficult to ignore.
That is extremely fair. Most other CEOs aren’t as vocal about their deranged bullshit

I have an S and it’s the best car I’ve ever driven. The Musk taint makes me feel gross, though.
