I’m trying to install ubuntu on a usb drive. I’m not talking about liveusb or booting from usb. I want to install the os on a 256 Gb usb drive, so that it can be accessed as a portable system from any computer. Need a bootable usb to install it on a second usb stick. However I intend to use my computer as only Windows 11 pc.
My questions are:
- Should I unplug my Windows 11 SSD before I install the Ubuntu on a Usb stick? I read otherwise Ununtu will store the secure boot files in the Windows ESP partition.
- Will unplugging and plugging back Windows 11 drive cause any problem with the Windows installation?
- Ununtu supports secure boot as I read. However do I need to change the secure boot mode (curtently set to Windows only) or backup the keys? If yes, how?
- Do other variants of Ubuntu such as Xubuntu or Lubuntu also support Secure Boot?
Thanks.
