I will preface this by saying: As a kid I read the Hobbit book, then years later I watched the Lord the Rings movies when they came out and thought they were fantastic. I didn’t see the Hobbit movies until way after their release when it was on Streaming and I watched them back to back in three nights and they were really enjoyable too, although I recognize I’d be annoyed if I went to the Cinema to see them due to the endings of the first two.
With Amazon releasing their teaser trailer for the second season of ROP, the discussion has started back up again about it and people are claiming it’s getting ratioed on YouTube and lots of negative comments and such.
But I actually enjoyed Season 1. I felt all the Acting was fantastic all round, and engaged with most of the Characters. I thought Halbrand and Galadirel had amazing chemistry together and obviously the Production all looked great due to how much it cost, it really showed onscreen.
A lot of complaints are about the lore, but it’s not a direct Adaption of anything, it’s a Television Show set in the LOTR universe. I haven’t read LOTR books or any of the expanded stuff. To me, it’s not different than to say the MCU. It’s not a direct adaption of the Comic Books.
People complained about Black Actors in the show which is wild to me. However if you did want to explain it, then because Skin Color never comes up in the show, the Characters are white while the Actors aren’t.
I personally just enjoyed the show, I was surprised by the Halbrand reveal, I thought it was gonna be kid who found the sword hilt.
Did anyone else enjoy it too?
