Re-watched this for the first time in many years. What can you say… Cronenberg.

But I was wondering about a couple of things…. The “Church of the Cathode Ray”, where street people come in and gaze at TVs…. Very similar to the use by William Gibson in one of his “Bridge” novels. One of the characters comes from a cult community that thinks they can achieve religious inspiration by simply watching TV…. Also, some of the special effects seem very similar to techniques that would show up in the re-make of “The Thing”…. Seems to have been a fairly influential film.
