My aunt is about to move to Canada and is cutting down on their cars before leaving. One of the things they are hoping to pawn off what was my grandfather’s Cadillac STS, which I am interested in. I drive and work on my ND Miata and would be looking to make this STS a sleeper build to get a poor boy Blackwing. My main concern is the Northstar engine, seems pretty divided on if this thing will blow its head gasket immediately or if it will outlive me. The car obviously has emotional attachment since it was my grandparent’s, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Cadillac because of it. I’m looking at getting a better winter car to compliment my Miata, the AWD seems like it would be good for that.

Any advice?
