Hi All,

I’m in the process of putting a home office in my basement and needed to have a dedicated wired ethernet connection for my workstation. I currently have FioS with the ONT located all the way on the 3rd floor. I had my contractor bring a 100 ft out from the switch in the 3rd floor down to the basement and already fastened it to the outside of my house. I’m now realizing that the cable length that he left in the basement isn’t enough to get to where I anticipate the location of my workstation will be. Instead of having him having to unfasten the cable along the outside of my house and pull more wire from the 3rd floor, is it possible for me to just put another switch in the basement and connect the ethernet cable to that and then get a smaller ethernet cable to go to my PC? If it works, will it reduce or limit the speed of my connection? Thank you.
