Hello everyone,

What’s the best way to upgrade my PC? I currently have a Ryzen 7 3700X on an ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard, with 16GB of 3600MHz DDR4 RAM, paired with a Gigabyte AORUS RTX 2070 Super. I’m gaming at 1440p resolution.

I was considering upgrading only the CPU and GPU. I can get a good deal on a new CPU, but GPUs are currently sold out everywhere in Germany. Does it make sense to upgrade just these two components?

How much performance would I lose compared to switching to a full AM5 build? Is it still worth sticking with AM4, or would it be better to upgrade to AM5 in the long run?

I’m not planning to upgrade right now. I hope the GPU market stabilizes, and then I’ll proceed with the upgrade. However, before that, I want to determine the best upgrade path and what makes the most sense. I built my current PC at the end of 2019.
