Working with an agency to book a 2-week honeymoon in Japan with a budget of $20k. We paid our advisor a fee of $380 an we feel like we’re just not seeing eye-to-eye on what the planning process should be, nor what we want the trip to look like.
- We’ve only been communicating over email because we’re based in the US an she’s based in Singapore, so there’s a 13 hour time difference.
- We’ve given her tons of details about what we like, don’t like, etc and I feel like the recommendations we’re getting from her are only partially suiting our interests.
- When we reach out asking for her opinion on something, she just immediately modifies our itinerary without sharing any point of view. Some of these changes aren’t aligned with our interests and aren’t relevant to the feedback we give. She’s also editing the itinerary so that we lose access to the previous draft, so we can’t compare 1:1 to see what changes she’s made.
- She’s not providing any options to us, just sending itinerary drafts and asking for our thoughts.
I feel like I can’t really make decisions without options, and for the fee we paid I was expecting a more collaborative white-glove process. Are our expectations unreasonable? Should I give this feedback her? Or should we just ask the agency for a different advisor?
