This is probably a basic problems, so sorry for newbie question.

But having a problem with physical connections. My firewall for example has 6 ethernet ports and I use 4 of them for various networks, but keep losing track of which is which. Physical labels work, but on some devices there isn’t enough room.

Another problem is I have a ZFS pool and one of the drives is failing. I have a replacement, but will have to manually pull each drive and check each serial number.

Is there ntify software to keep track of this? Just use a plain old spreadsheet?
