Hey there, I bought the 9800x3d one month ago, since then it’s been plug and play but recently I got into undervolting and overclocking it.
My build is: 9800x3d, x870-a gaming wifi, g.skill 6400mhz cl30, rtx 7900xtx
Looking at other users experience I tried enabling pbo, limits to motherboard, scalar 7x, +200 and then curve optimizer -15. One thing I noticed while testing stability with OCCT, Y-cruncher and AIDA64 is that aida64 was the only one crashing after 8 minutes if I put curve to anything less than 15(-17 failed the stability test too), while the other 2 are fine up to -25. I also noticed that VCore never reaches anything more than 1.2V even on default. In addition, undervolting temps with OCCT CPU+RAM test reach 80°C(my idle is 36-37) while on default they don’t go over 55°C. Now you might think why would I even try to OC in the first place… well I love trying new stuff, basically I wouldn’t need it but If I can do something easy such as undervolting and getting more performance, why not?(I tested 9800x3d OC for 8 hours, ycruncher VT3 1 hour). Moreover one thing that bothers me is that only warzone crashes sometimes after few games with OC, other games run fine.
Thank you for your help and for any explanation, one thing I forgot to mention is that my MB has got a CPU_OV jumper(if that’s how it’s called), and I thought that maybe not having it to OV setting is the reason why I’m not going past 1.2V? Sorry for my ignorance, I always look foward to learning new things.
