Looking to build my first small home server.
Goals:
-
Want to use it as NAS (I don’t need anything crazy, probably 2x4Tb SATA HDD at max, but I will be starting with just 1. Probably OpenMediaVault.
-
Want to run Jellyfin (or plex/emby) and Home Assistant (docker containers). Don’t think I’ll be streaming to more than 1 device at a time, but would be interested in 4K steaming
-
Run it 24/7, so looking to use some low power CPUs
I saw a lot of people mentioned Intel’s N100 chip (integrated on a ASRock motherboard), saying that it’s powerful and energy efficient. Any recommendations? Are there any other ones that are slightly more powerful but still power efficient on idle and under load? Don’t want to buy $150+ processors if n100 can handle what I want
