Hey peeps. For xmas me and my gf decided to gift her grandmother a new tv set. It is not a smart tv as she doesnt use wifi. It is just a bog standard tuner HDTV.
Now it arrived with a broken frame! ( tv/picture works)
We recieved a refund for the tv and was asked to throw it away 🤦🏻♂️ … we did not throw it away! (Really? How could anyone?)
It has been functioning fine in my gfs grandmothers house for some weeks now. Until yday the picture is gone/ channels wiped and is asking to re-insert the already inserted cgi card.
Is it possible/likely that Thomson (manufacturer) have disabled the tv? Is the tv now useless? I have read that samsung can remotely disable their smart tvs. But wouldnt expect it from a lower quality brand like this.
Question is, if i recieve a refund for a tv… will the manufacturer remotely disable said tv?
