Hi all, I just bought a new Acer Swift Go laptop last week:
-
AMD Ryzen 7 8845hs (with integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics)
-
16 GB RAM
-
1TB SSD
-
Windows 11
-
2.8K Resolution
As soon as I got it, I removed all unnecessary bloatware. Then, downloaded Battlefield 1.
Once I started gaming, after around 2 hours, the laptop was incredibly hot. Suddenly, the game froze and laptop crashed. I had to shut it down from power button. Graphic settings were set on “Medium” in Battlefield by default once launched.
After, the laptop just restarted without issues, and I jumped straight back to Chrome with multiple YouTube tabs in 4k to check for any issues but nothing.
Now, every time I try to play the game in “Low” settings (multiplayer mode), about 5 minutes in the game, the game freezes along with the laptop for around 30 seconds and and error appears:
directx function “dx11 renderer::trymap” failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
This link shows how the error looks like: https://answers.microsoft.com/pt-br/windows/forum/all/directx-function-dx11renderertrymap-failed-with/855874ea-3931-4b03-94cc-35f52d5e6ee4
I’m now wondering if I permanently damaged the built-in graphics/thermal paste by running the game the first time and making the laptop extremely hot. Is that possible? As the crashes now happen relatively soon. But won’t happen if I run Minecraft on high quality settings.
I have also been monitoring the temperature from AMD “Adrenaline” while playing Battlefield on low settings (no aliasing, low quality texture, etc), and it seems that while I’m 5 minutes in the game, GPU temperature is around 85 Celsius degrees.
I also uninstalled/installed the graphic drivers multiple times as most people say that the issue is related to that. Also, everything is up to date from Windows Update. I got to say that when launched the first time, I had sound issues and the game would become “whiter” sometimes when closing and reopening it to check stuff on Chrome/Desktop.
Please, help me understand the issue! I’m relatively new to hardware and I’m thinking to return the laptop, even if I don’t really want to. Thanks in advance all!
