Hey all,

My computer has an issue where about 20-25% of the time when powering on, it will not POST - in fact, it will freeze even before the point where I can enter BIOS. The display is not entirely blank - it does display a cursor (not blinking) in the top left corner of the screen. Now since something is displayed on the screen, and it’s before the Motherboard’s BIOS, my assumption is that might be the video card’s bios, correct? (I have an RTX 4060)

The cursor thing is displayed on every boot (whether it hangs or not) but on a successful boot, it moves past that point. If it does not, the only thing I can do is to power off & on again. Sometimes it takes up to 5 tries to boot.

If the computer does boot, it has no issues thereafter and everything works fine, including running demanding games in high settings, so I’m hesitant to pin this on the PSU.

I checked the debug LEDs on the motherboard when it hangs, and the VGA LED is lit up. So I’m guessing the system has trouble getting past the VBIOS. I’ve tried re-seating the video card but that didn’t help.

I also tried lightening the load on the PSU by removing a hard drive (which admittedly isn’t much) and still no cigar.

Is there any way I can make sure the video card is to blame? If so, I’m wondering if I can send it back under warranty, as since this is an intermittent fault, they might give it a go and say it’s fine.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this, or what to do next?
