Hi all, new to subred, haven’t really run Debian
on anything but servers, but I’m trying testing
with desktop packages on a laptop that’s less than 1 year old called the: Lenovo IdeaPad Ultra7 155h
with what is apparently called Xe
graphics 🧐 which I believe is the successor chipset to i915
, is that correct? 🤔
Huge caveat to my question (and I hope this doesn’t annoy the shit out of everyone): I am running testing, even though it’s not released yet. Several reasons I decided to, feel free to ask me why if interested (while naming a stable DE!), but don’t want to rant about reasons for running testing if nobody cares… besides the obvious reason that the laptop is ~new, and Bookworm is growing fuzz in the ear canal…
So, I’ve got to ask the question of the old 'heads at the Debian watercooler who’ve survived release transitions a time or two, or chronically run sid
or testing
for whatever reason on their daily driver (other than being awesome like me, obviously):
If you were going to run testing
, and you knew it was going to be buggy (real buggy), but you wanted a DE/WM that would survive while running it well enough to be able to still use the machine (gotta submit bug reports!)
… what DE or WM would you choose?
Additionally, what if you (I) didn’t want to have to write bug reports related to the DE/WM at all, if possible, and don’t really gaf about/want to need to configure much (will accept: decent config once, pull many
, aka yadm
/plethora of others, etc.)
If you feel like answering along those lines, even if it’s not the DE/WM you would choose, would love hearing about those things, too…
I didn’t want to come on and rant about a bunch of problems I’m having with any specificity. This is Reddit, after all… lemme know your opinions. Thanks :D
