With the current debates concerning AI tools and the storm with DeepSeek, I was wondering what is this sub’s overall take on using AI and what kind of things we should be worried about, in particular concerning privacy and surveillance (tracking), and data profiteering? Obviously there are other issues (e.g. creative and intellectual use, etc.), but currently I am more interested in the security aspect.
For those concerned with security and privacy, should these AI tools be avoided in general? On the other hand, if we already use search engines already, what are the fundamental differences? I assume that it is a matter of time before we replace search engines with AI tools.
Are there any fundamental differences between ChatGPT (and similar) and DeepSeek models?
Are options such as Duck AI (link) more safe and ‘ethical’?
What would be the optimal AI tool (if any) from a ‘pirate perspective’?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you are willing to share!
P.S. in case you haven’t noticed yet, big noob writing.
