I understand that many Southerners choose to fly it as a way to show their southern heritage, but flying state flags accomplishes the same goal without the associated stigma. It’s also way more specific because every state in the South might share certain traditions, foods, and dialects, but they’re all different and have their own ways, and what better way to show that difference than with state flags?
