Alright who else is victim of this?
Anticipation for these new GPU’s is high, everyone (or so it seems) wants one. Stock levels are said to be low, creating more FOMO. You can’t wait to purchase this damn card no matter what it costs you.
“I’ll buy the damn thing off of scalpers for 3000 if I have to get one early!” you might say…
But hear me out… the card you have right now is still working fine. You can play the games you like in a good quality for the most part. The games out at this time are barely pushing the last generation except for a few niche games you already played through.
Don’t be fooled by this feeling of FOMO. Your current card is still fine, you can enjoy your games at Medium settings too, don’t fall for the trick of having to spend everything just to be one of the first to own these GPU’s at a premium.
1 week after purchasing the card for $3000 USD, regret is going to kick in, was it worth it? Should I have waited for a better oppurtunity? Did I even need this GPU in the first place?
Just some food for thought.
Edit: Listen, everyone can do whatever they want. I’m obviously not talking about people upgrading from 1030 GT to a 5080. This post was created out of self-reflection. I caught myself wanting to spend money on a 5090 because of FOMO (I have a 4090), but this time I won’t fall for it, and maybe this post will inspire some people to at least think about it.
