My computer for the past few years and turned off instantly when static hit it. Sometimes it was caused when I plugged something into a USB port. More recently, when I pull the light switch attached to the fan on my ceiling, I’ll get a static shock and the computer turns off right away.

Any clue as to what is causing this? Should I be worried? It has been like this for so long I imagine if something bad was going to happen it would have…
