So long story short… My flight was delayed for 12 hrs from Rome to Kochi with a connection in AUH and they provided a stay with food after 5 hrs in airport. I went on to email Etihad for the compensation according to EU rules which states that if you have a delay of more than 4hrs, you can get a compensation of 600€ depending on the circumstances.

I emailed and they replied after 25 days asking for my bank account to give a compensation of 1800€ for three people or 2400€ worth etihad flight credit. So i just want to say that if your flight is delayed by any provider who flies within or outside or even to EU, you can ask for the compensation as its how the EU values our time. Domestic flight compensation values will differ. The same incident happened at Abu dhabi once and they didnt even care to give us a hotel room.
