I resubbed to NordVPN a few days ago after not using it for over a year. Ever since then my regular internet has been dropping every few minutes for about 10 seconds and then resumes as normal. I don’t mean when connected to a vpn, just the regular Xfinity internet has been dropping.
Both WiFi and Ethernet connections experience the same thing. It happens on everything connected to WiFi and my PC that only uses Ethernet. I get a steady 800mbps connection that drops completely dead for those 10 seconds. It doesn’t slow down but just drops completely.
I went to my local Xfinity store today and exchanged my older gateway for a newer model (XB8) hoping it would fix it. They said there’s no outages in my area so this new gateway “should” fix it but no luck. Even with this new gateway my internet takes a crap every few minutes. I changed the coax and Ethernet cables with new ones and it still didn’t fix it.
I know this most likely isn’t the case but I have to ask to be sure. Is it possible that I accidentally did something with NordVPN that caused this issue or is it something else? I’ve used NordVPN for years but never really familiarized myself with everything. I have no idea what NordLynx or Meshnet is so in that confusion I think I might have done something to cause this.
Also is there any tool/program I can use to log my internet traffic? I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to internet stuff but is there something I could measure to figure out why this is happening?
I’m just trying to exhaust all my options before finally scheduling a tech to come out.
Tl;dr Regular non-vpn internet drops frequently after using NordVPN. Changed all equipment with new ones and it persists. Only started happening after I downloaded and set up NordVPN on my PC.
