halfway through a 3 day road trip trailering a flats boat my 2018 f150 began having transmission issues so i took it into the closest dealership and it’s been sitting there for 12 days. just got some news today that they probably need to replace the transmission. so that’s at least another week. my dog, my boat and nearly all my belongings are stranded here. i’m hemorrhaging money on a rental car and hotel and need to cut my losses but i also need a working truck to leave. i thought maybe buy a new truck there but the dealer can’t close a sale until the trucks fixed and we can get a value for it. doesn’t get me out sooner so might as well just wait and keep the truck. buying a new truck when i just bought this used 2018 f150 a year ago is not my favorite plan either, and if i do it probably wont be a ford. a new car payment right now would be around double my current monthly payment of $580. I really need to get to my destination but rental cars don’t allow towing, some do have a hitch but super risky and uhaul pickup trucks have a major fee for returning to a new destination. and it would be probably a 2 week rental. oh ya and dealership isn’t offering a loaner and they’re charging me by the day to keep my boat there. the irresponsible devil on my should says buy a gmc and sell the ford privately when it’s finished. can someone convince me not to do that?
