Remember when Uber rides cost next to nothing? 🚗💨

That was the era of VC-subsidized transportation.

Now we’re in the age of VC-subsidized AI. Instead of cheap rides, we’re getting cheap intelligence.

As Dan Hockenmaier pointed out recently: Use it while it lasts—because nothing this good stays free forever.

This was in response to Sam Altman’s post on X saying:

insane thing: we are currently losing money on openai pro subscriptions! people use it much more than we expected.

This is such an interesting take and l wonder if it’s true, but then again, we have made models orders of magnitude smaller, faster and cheaper in the last 2 years that this might not be the case. Thoughts?
