So someone is giving me a brand new 14900k. Basically it’s a replacement because of the whole Intel Microcode Fiasco and my friend is, understandably, tired of Intel and switched to Apple M3.
I on the other hand, am gonna use this brand new 14900k. Since I got it for literally $0, I don’t care if I get less performance than advertised. Heck, I don’t even care if it ends up being as fast as a 12600k for all I care. I just really want it to work, and stay working.
That being said, my questions is this: Would it be enough to just install the 0x12b via bios flashback, throw the CPU in, and run everything at default? Or is there anything else I need to change in my bios?
And I guess if there’s anyone out there like me who got their 14900k AFTER the 0x12b got released, sharing your experience here would also be welcome. I’m curious to hear how the chip performs after the fix.
Thank you.
