I love Ceylan’s movies and I liked this one too. But it’s driving me crazy!! Why did he break the fourth wall? I’m mystified. I’ve read everything I can find on the film and no one seems to have a good theory. Ideas?

All I can think is that it happens at the absolute peak of dramatic tension, when the character is about to go past the point of no return into evilness. But I still don’t know what it means or why the director would make that choice.
