I recently got into Usenet and purchased subscriptions to a few providers and indexers, with NewsDemon being one of them. I bought a Black Friday mystery deal they offered for $5. When I went to see what I had received, I was happy and surprised to find I had an unlimited account. However, the problem was that there was no time limit attached to it (time limits offered came in the form of 3 months, 1 year, and 10 years for unlimited accounts). That day, they were experiencing issues, and I completely understood, figuring they would correct it once they resolved their problems. Then an hour later, my unlimited account turned into a 500 GB block.

I immediately emailed them but received no response; I never got an email reply from them. So, I contacted them through the site using the support bubble. It took 3 days, and, I’d say, maybe 6 or 8 messages between us (it took forever on their side). When speaking to the representative, I informed him that I had received an unlimited account through the deal and that it had been changed, which felt shady. I even showed him the screenshot. He assured me there was no need for concern and that he would change it back to unlimited. I said, “Okay, thank you,” and thought the issue was resolved. I was wrong.

I haven’t been using NewsDemon because my other provider was my first priority, and I also haven’t been downloading much. So, today I saw a charge for $5, and I thought, “Whose is this from?” It was from NewsDemon; they charged me for a monthly payment. The wild thing is that I don’t have autopay on, and it was supposed to be a one-time purchase. So I logged in to check my invoice and saw the charge. Then I looked back at the first Black Friday invoice; it changed from saying “Black Friday” to “monthly unlimited.” Additionally, to add insult to injury, they not only charged me, but my credentials no longer work to connect to the servers. My account says unlimited, but there’s no data amount attached to it. So, I spent $10, used no data, and they charged my card when it wasn’t supposed to be; they changed account status, altered invoices, and I cannot connect to the servers with the account they just charged me for. I advise staying away. Attached are screenshots to prove what I’m saying, and I blurred out my account username.
