Sure there are going to be some people who are desperate to get in but can’t (for whatever reason) but most people don’t actually care about that.

There are plenty of stories where someone invited their friend(s) to a private tracker only to see them disabled later due to them not actually using it.

It’s generally not enough to get an account, you need to actually maintain it. On some trackers you can get immunity from inactivity pruning but that generally requires you to donate or to upload to the site.

If you actually want to join say PTP badly you are very likely to eventually succeed in that. It’s not actually hard to become torrent master on RED, sure it takes some work but it really isn’t that difficult work.

With anime i have noticed that most people don’t even want to bother with nyaa, they opt for some shitty streaming site instead.

And outside of TV/movies joining the top trackers takes significantly less work.

RED: you can get official invite directly via interview.

GGn: easy to join from RED (power user is enough).

Animebytes: after a year on RED the official requirement is dropped to power user which is very easy to get (i assume most applying as PU after 1 year still get accepted).
