What is the best way to HODL 4 Bitcoin?
I’m using a single-sig + passphrase with no issues. However, as the value of BTC increases, the N of N requirement (seed + passphrase) starts to play on my mind. Lose either phrase, and it’s game over.
Both phrases are secured physically and in my memory, but the risk of loss still exists.
I’m considering a two-of-three multi-sig without a passphrase and generating three private keys via BIP-85-derived child seeds. Multi-sig provides a margin for key loss while maintaining a similar level of seed/private key management with BIP-85, making this method attractive to me.
The downside is that if my master seed is exposed, all seeds are exposed, but with an unlimited number of child seeds and an unknown number of keys required to recover the target wallet. I think this is a fair trade-off for simplicity, but is it?
While considering my options, I want to gather feedback from the Bitcoin hive mind for the best way to secure a life-altering amount of BTC.
Edit: I’m not a U.S resident, Unchained Capital is not an option sadly.
