Hello,
I just switched ISPs and using their provided modem + router combo (not ideal, but it works).
The problem is the modem is set up on a second floor living room via coax outlet (for some reason, they only unlocked this coax), whereas my office & PC set up is on the first floor and opposite side of the house - so roughly three rooms + 1 floor away. There are no ethernet wall jacks that came with the house.
I’ve speed-tested via Ookla directly wired to the modem and getting speeds I would expect - around 980 Mbps down - so I know the modem & ISP is capable of those speeds. However, I just tried using the TP-Link AV2000 Powerline Adapter, which should have gigabit ports, and speed-tested in my office to get <80 Mbps.
Is there something I’m missing? Am I too far away? Do I need to get another powerline adapter to set up in-between? Are there any alternatives other than running a very long ethernet cable throughout the house?
