For a B580 225W (products are always designed around max TBP, not TDP) like GPU what’s a realistic cost estimate for components and specific subcomponents? Ignore GPU die and memory/VRAM in the math. My own estimates range wildly from $70-120 + GPU & VRAM, so really don’t know what to think.
Here is the template I’ve been using:
Components and Subcomponents
- GPU Die (BGA Package): GPU Die, BGA Package
- Memory: GDDRx, Memory Controller, DRAM ICs
- PCB (n-layer compact/normal): Base PCB, Copper Traces, Solder Mask, Silkscreen
- Cooling Solution: Heat Pipes, Fans, Fan Controller, Thermal Paste, Heatsink, Shroud & Backplate (Plastic), Screws & Holding Mechanism, Thermal Pads (VRM)
- Power Delivery (VRM Components): MOSFETs, Inductors, Capacitors, PWM Controller
- Connectors and Interfaces: HDMI 2.1a, DisplayPort 2.1, PCIe Connector
- Miscellaneous Components: Resistors, Capacitors, Inductors, Diodes, ICs (e.g., voltage regulators, logic ICs)
Cost Overhead
- Testing/Validation + Assembly: Testing and Validation, Assembly
- Packaging: ESD bag, foam, and cardboard box
- Transport: Transport
