I remember 15-20 years ago, trying to get my wifi drivers installed was a complete nightmare. Most of my install time was committed to trying to find the correct drivers and put them where they needed to be.
Granted that was when I was a complete noob. But every time in the past 5-6 years, I didn’t even think about Wi-Fi drivers. Stuff just worked immediately on first boot.
And this is from all sorts of different hardware like a raspberry pi, system76, MacBook Pro, and some cheapo Lenovo laptop. And it’s also not distro specific, I’d also goofed around on all different distros, from Ubuntu, Pop, Debian, Gentoo, or Arch.
I don’t know, I can’t be the only one who breathes a huge sigh of relief that Wi-Fi regularly works out the box.
