I was reading an article by Ars Technica about JBER solider Seth Herrera who was arrested on corn charges. From the article and the indictment (linked in the article), it states that he was using a bunch of apps ranging from private “supposedly” E2E encrypted apps and such, with one of them being the Tor browser.

Now here’s where it gets interesting. It says that “his criminal conduct was finally uncovered after he tried to access a link containing apparent ____”, but how would this be the case if he was using the Tor app on Android? Is there something in the Android app that can de-anonymize users?

Edit: Also, does the tor browser save history/cache? Because how else would the indictment know exactly which site he frequented if it wasn’t for that? Or maybe a vulnerability allowed the tracking of his behavior across various sites?
