Hi everybody!

I have an old PC w/ an i7-2600 & 16GB of ram, two GTX1050’s gathering dust and thought it would be a fun project to have my own “AI server” using some open source stuff like LLama to learn on the topic, avoid subscriptions and such. The motherboard is running a H61 chipset and has one x16 PCI-E slot. Speed is not that important, just want to mess a project.

So I have a few quick question:

1. Hardware:
   1. CPU: worth it to upgrade to a 3770 on the cheap? Used ones can be low-priced.
   2. GPU: I know a 1050 is not “optimal” (cough, cough) what would be a cheap worthwhile upgrade? Anything on the NVidia Quattro worth it say sub 100$?
2. Software: what should I look for to run this? I was thinking Proxmox VE
3. What should I know I don’t know yet because I’ve never dabbled in this? Any wisdom welcomed.
