I have family spread all over that use me for supporting all manner of technical devices and not just their computers / phones that I can use a remote assistance tool. I am trying to determine what would be the best solution to be able to remotely access their networks to help support all the other components. I’ve tried using the built in OpenVPN into their netgear routers but most of the time it fails to connect, or when it does it is incredibly slow.

I was looking at a hardware solution because they don’t have computers they keep on 24/7, but if there was another software solution that would work I wouldn’t be opposed. Is something like Pi VPN going to be my best bet or would it be better to use something like the dedicated site to site VPN tunneling hardware out there, or anything else?

Some months I’ll be in their networks basically daily and other times it can be months before I need to login, so I’m also looking for something that is low maintenance.

I’d also prefer it if I could remotely access my home network from their locations as well.

I don’t mind spending the money for a quality product, but at the same time I don’t want to overbuy.

I know the rules prevent asking for specic product recommendations but if I could at least get a good direction, I would appreciate it.
