I took on the offer of TorrentLeech and the experience has been great, even if I now reserved 1TB for torrents I don’t care for but that should seed nicely. Feels like a strategy game…
However. In my new found interest I managed to gain access to another private tracker and this is where I started to take issue with the policy’s many of these have.
1: Super low starting allowances. This is now a linear progression strategy game, and if you pick the wrong torrent to seed, you’re SOL.
2: Extremely high amounts of seeders, making it difficult to keep to ratios.
3: Unforgiving regarding seed ratios. What should matter is the fact that I promise to seed, but this might not always be possible.
Wouldn’t we want everyone who torrents to seed? Because currently it seems like we have public torrents where hit and run doesn matter but they die quickly, or you get a private tracker that is a decent amount of work, needs a strategy and is constantly threatening you with a ban if you download the wrong torrent without a leech demand. I know seedboxes will improve your ratios but I think my point still stands. TorrentLeech is much more relaxed and easy to build a ratio in, but I can’t help but feel like private trackers can be pretty toxic.
