I have been reached out by Nielsen to be a panel member in their national survey.

They send devices home that each household member wears. This device listens to embedded audio signals, presumably stuff you don’t notice as a human, that let’s the device know what you’re watching, and then sends that info to Nielsen via cell network.

Hypothetically, if I, uh, liberate content and use Plex to stream it at home. Our whole household is a heavy plex user. Hypothetically.

Will Nielsen understand these are not traditional network channels and report my activity to law enforcement and/or the corporate content owners?

It’s a nice cash payout, all things considered.
