I wanted to get some input from fellow Mac users here. Do you use an antivirus on your Mac? I’m specifically using an M1 Macbook Pro.

Given the nature of this subreddit, let’s be honest—most of us use some questionable sources like MacBed or AppKed to grab apps.

  • Do you rely on antivirus software to stay safe, or do you trust your common sense and sandboxing?
  • If you do use antivirus, what are the best options that work well with macOS (especially on M1/M2 chips)?
  • Have you had any bad experiences (malware, keyloggers, etc.) when grabbing apps from these sources?
