I have a dell poweredge r720 and i wanted to set up an arch linux package cache since all my vms and pcs use arch and it’s useless to redownload everything when i update so i was thinking to put an arch cache on the ram of my server, i have 128gb and i’m using less than half of it so its not a size issue. SInce the server is up the always its not an issue that its volatle memory and even if i turn it off its not important. I wanted to use ssd at the beginning but since I have all this ram i would avoid useless reads and writes to my ssds. Does anyone else have a similar solution and what is your experience with it? I’m running proxmox so it would be a container with probably a mount point to a ramdisk or just a lot of ram.
