My company uses a VPN for home office. We’re obviously only supposed to use it for work related things.
Usually I don’t have any problem with this. I always leave the VPN connection window open to remind myself to log out after I finished work. However, I’ve had a few cases where I shut down my PC after work without disabling the VPN, or had a crash, or Windows Update decided to restart my PC, and I didn’t realize I was still logged into the the VPN because my OS “helpfully” decided to reestablish the connection on its own once I turned the PC back on.
Is there any way to disable this behavior, so even if the VPN was on when I shut off the system, after a restart I always need to manually connect to it to get back in?
