This year I stopped even trying putting stuff I actually like or want on a list. She insists she “doesn’t know what I like” even when a list is in front of her because I’m not feminine.

For reference, I write Sherlock Holmes books, play dnd on the regular and play a lot of video games. These are not obscure hobbies- it is so easy to google to find related gifts for these things.

Even when I put things like socks or comfy clothes (I work from home) she’ll insist on giving me skin care stuff I’d never use or formal clothes I’ll never wear. I wish she just would stop giving me gifts that I’ll end up having to give away/find a use for a month or two later. I used to think it was the thought that counts, but it’s clear they haven’t thought about me, just what they think I should be like.
