New to building PCs. Was looking at getting a 7800x3d but now that there is the 9800 series I am conflicted. I plan on playing a lot of sim heavy games (Cities Skylines 2, Civ 7 (when it comes out), planet coaster 1/2) and have always heard a better CPU is better for these games (though would still want to get around to BG3 and CP2077 too).
I found a 7800x3d for $370. If I went for the 9800x3d, I would probably get it through the microcenter bundle priced at $670 ($470 for the CPU + mobo + 32gb ram). I game on a 1080p ultra widemonitor and don’t plan on upgrading it to 1440 anytime soon. I was going to pair it with a 7800xt.
Any reason I should pick the 9800x3d over the 7800x3d? Downside to the 9800x3d if that I’m locked into the microcenter mobo + ram and would have a preference in picking those parts myself, but if the 9800x3d would make that big of a difference I could stomach having those parts selected for me.
Thanks in advance.
