I love me some RPGs. Ever since FF2, it’s been my favorite genre. As I got older, I found out a lot of those games had crazy hidden treasures that would make you more powerful! By the time FF7 came around, there were enough guides on the internet to get me to KoTR!

But then FF12 came about, and if you opened 1 random chest in the wrong place, you lost out on one of the best weapons in the game. Now…you can’t miss a thing, or you miss out.

I loot every container. Read every guide. Make sure I don’t miss a single detail. And I haven’t completed an RPG story in years. Pick em up, play the shit out of them, looking in every corner and back alley, then get bored of it because I’m not really playing a game any more.

I still love this genre, and I feel like they have moved away from the FF12-style miss one random detail and you’re screwed gameplay, but I’m so stuck in that mindset. Anybody else out there have any luck breaking that cycle?
