Hi everyone!

6 months ago I made a post here (https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1ct9l9t/what\_is\_the\_cheapest\_way\_to\_get\_out\_of\_this/) but unfortunately needed the money for something else.

Now i have the means to actualize it, and some more.

Here is the TLDR:

I have a computer (typing on it right now) that I can only salvage my video card from: an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. People on the thread linked above convinced me i need:

-a motherboard

-a CPU

-RAM

  • new PSU to handle the load (old one is a corsair VS550)

. probably a nvme SSD

I should mention that the PC would be for Path of Exile and occasionally “graphics intensive” games like Assassin’s Creed.

Here is what u/voss749 came up with:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($91.64 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($59.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: TEAMGROUP Elite 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL22 Memory ($29.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: MSI MAG A550BN 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.00 @ MSI)

Total: $230.62

(these are 6 months old prices)

This would be roughly my budget for those items, plus I have money for a decent NVME SSD (around 80-100 usd im guessing)

My question is: is the above config still the optimum for the money, or are there other parts now that are either similar for cheaper or better for the same money?

Also, obviously which SSD would you guys buy for this? I’m pretty sure I would be more than fine with 500 gb or maybe even less.

I’m ready to buy in a few days and honestly cant wait to upgrade but I dont want to buy random stuff I dont need and I am totally “computer hardware illiterate”.

thanks for reading:)
