I recently bought the Corsair RM650 PSU. I have a RX 6700 XT GPU which uses 2x8 pin power connectors (recommended PSU of 650W). I am wanting to double check I have the correct cables to avoid frying any parts.
A PCIe cable came with the PSU (the cable on the left in the picture) which is daisy chained, I think this is a type 4 cable. The recommendation for the GPU say to not use a daisy chain so I bought a type 3 cable (the Corsair website says type 3 and 4 are the same for the PCIe and both are compatible with the RM650). This is the cable: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/pc-components-accessories/cp-8920130/type-3-flat-black-ribbon-cable-pcie-6-2-pin-single-connector-compatible-with-all-type-3-pin-out-psu-cp-8920130
The end that connects to the GPU is the same however the end that connects to the PSU is different, I have circled this in the pictures. The cable that came with the PSU has no wire in pin 7 while the type 3 cable has no wire in pins 4 and 8. This confused me as I was expecting them to be the same (as the website suggests), will the type 3 cable be suitable for powering the GPU? Is the cable that came with the PSU a type 4?
Thanks
