I’m still using an old build from 2017. GTX 1080 and R5 1600. I seem to be getting more crashes than ever, on many different games, and I’m running out of ideas and patience for figuring out solutions. I reinstall OS every now and then (this is just general hygiene for me). I think nearly every game I play experiences crashes. It happens nearly every day that I play games. I’m tired of it.

So I wonder if it’s worthwhile building a PC around maximum stability. I know that new hardware tends to be relatively unstable, but also old hardware. Is there really much of a difference for hardware within the same generation? Is one brand more stable than the other?

Give me a spec list for the most stable PC and I’ll buy it. I don’t even care so much about performance or price. I want something that won’t contribute to the growth of grey hairs over time. I have the money for a mid-high end PC though I am not in a hurry and I can save for something better.

Also are there other factors such as the OS and OS version? I will never use Windows 11. I use Linux as my primary desktop but Windows 10 proves to be much less of a headache.
