This is something that has happened to me about four times now. I get up at 4:00 a.m. so I tend to go to bed fairly early. I will be completely knocked out on the third floor of my house when I get woken by repeated loud banging on my front door. When I finally stumble downstairs and get some clothes on I find a cop at the front door. Wanting to know if my door cam caught what happened 3 doors down across the street.

Every time I tell them the same thing. My door cam only records what happens in my front yard. And every time they say thanks and walk away. But 3 weeks later the same thing happens. And it’s always for stuff that couldve waited til the next day.

At this point I’m pretty sure this is standard operating procedure for them. And I really wish it wasn’t.

Edit: for those who jump to wild conclusions. If there was a murder or assault or bad car accident in front of my house I wouldn’t be annoyed. I still wouldn’t have footage (unless it happens in my very small front yard) But it’s always for low level stuff that easily could’ve waited til morning. Someone’s Halloween decoration is missing, a suspicious person was walking down the street, etc.
