This is the only 6k monitor in existence. For some reason, Dell seems to have decided that it doesn’t stand out enough from the crowd and needs something extra.
Who could possibly be the target market?
- Someone who cares so much about visuals that they’re willing to spend $2k
- The same person cares so little about visuals that they’re fine placing an ugly product as the centerpiece of their desk
- Also, this person with the $2k monitor is fine with $10 speakers.
This bullshit adds negative value. I can admit I’m exactly the kind of idiot who would have bought this already, but it’s just too ugly. It’s like it’s designed for a videoconferencing room, but… it’s a 6k IPS Black panel. What?
And this isn’t the first time. LG did the same thing to a lesser extent with 5k. What makes these product managers think their unique product needs an increased production cost to stand out from a crowd of one? Have any of you ever talked to any of them, or heard any reasons?
