I bought a 2.5Gb USB network adapter for each cluster node and one for my NAS from Aliexpress. The network adapters were like $6 each and the 8 port, 2.5Gb switch (with a 10Gb uplink) was around $30.

For less than $60 delivered I now get WAY better performance.

If you’re tired of waiting for your transfers to finish, migrating VMs between nodes, or backups, upgrading to 2.5Gb is a fairly simple and cheap way to increase performance.
