Normally I don’t care about privacy, but in recent years, I find myself involved in more potentially risky things. People telling me insider info on publically listed companies, I have some contacts with well known people close to politics, stuff like that. Its easy to get into trouble even without doing anything crazy.

So I want to harden my privacy. I have a macbook m1, apple watch and iphone.

What are the basics I should take care of?

Do far I understood I have to switch on disk encryption and use alphanumerical password, not just a pin. What else should I do? Should I completely stop using icloud, disable it somehow?

I also stopped backing up whatsapp and have set it to delete msgs after 90 days. I avoid SMS communication.

I should probably prevent my apple watch from unlocking my phone and macbook and maybe not use face recognition? Is fingerprint reasonably safe? I think I could prevent forced finger unlocking, not sure about face.
