“I just feel like this show is about how we’re feeling in the world,… particularly around this presidential race I think; and I think the serial killer in the show,… is sort of, I guess you’d say an amalgamation of everything that everybody’s feeling about everything in the world right now, from global warming to the election to…, so I was writing about that”

I’m aware that literal horror media can be used to metaphorically express sociopolitical perils, and I find it interesting that he also draws connections from “Grotesquerie” which at first glance appears to be a more direct serial killer story.
